Papua New Guinea Embraces Foreign Missions
A few years ago several New Guinea pastors came over to the Philippines to attend the World Mission Conference in Bethany Baptist Church, Makati. They were so challenged that they have returned every year with other pastors. As they have returned to their country they have asked the question, “Why are we not doing missions like the Philippines? We have the same commandment and the same God that can supply.”
Bro Gerry Nable, Bro Jack Baskin and others have been to PNG to preach mission conferences and stir the hearts of the people. The Lord has honored the planting to the mission seed and the harvest in starting to ripen.
In a recent Pastor’s Conference in Temple Baptist Church, Mt Hagen there were families surrendering to the mission field. The New Guinea churches now have 9 missionary families to pray for and support financially. Australia, Fiji, Solomon Islands, New Zealand, Ghana, Israel and Indonesia can now being reached with PNG missions.
To assist the churches get organized the Asian Baptist Clearinghouse is helping the pastors set up a clearinghouse. This will be big boost to allowing the churches from all over the islands to send their support in a systematic way. ABC is also offering training for any Papua New Guineans who wished to learn more about missions.
The Philippines has been an example to others that if you trust the Lord, Obey His command and give sacrificially, God will supply and bless in abundance. Pray for Papua New Guinea and MISSIONS.
